What is QHD?

Quad-HD, also commonly referred to QHD, refers to a resolution standard seen widely on computer monitors, laptops, and some mobile devices. With a screen resolution of 2560x1440 pixels, quad-HD is quadruple the resolution of standard 720p high definition, which itself has a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. QHD resolution is greater than 1080p high definition (1920x1080 resolution), though not as great as 4K or Ultra High Definition (3840x2160).

QHD is not to be mistaken for the acronym qHD, which refers to quarter high definition – a resolution standard for many smaller mobile devices. This resolution standard gets its name because at 960 pixels in width and 540 pixels in height (for a 16x9 aspect ratio), qHD is exactly one-quarter the resolution of standard high definition or 1080p. When reviewing a device's specs and features, you can typically tell the difference as the wording quarter or quad-HD will be used to describe the product.

What types of electronics typically have QHD?

A number of common and popular devices come equipped with screens that support quad-HD resolution. This includes computer monitors, laptops, tablets, and some smartphones. To determine if a device has a QHD screen, look for information relating to the device's screen resolution. A quad-HD screen has a picture size of 2560x1440 pixels.

What types of QHD products does Lenovo offer?

Lenovo offers several laptop and tablet options with quad-HD screens. This includes the Lenovo Yoga laptop series and the Lenovo Yoga tablet series. To determine if one of these devices offers QHD resolution, check the bulleted specifications on the series overview page. On an individual laptop or tablet product page there will be in-depth technical specifications for the product you are viewing. To determine the product's screen resolution, look under the field titled “Display.” Here you can see the physical size of the screen (in inches), along with its resolution in pixels. Quad-HD is 2560x1440 pixels – anything less than this is considered standard high definition (HD).
