    About This Privacy Notice

    This Privacy Notice describes Lenovo’s data processing practices regarding the collection, use, storage, transfer, and disclosure of your personal data when you use the Lenovo Qira or Motorola Qira AI ecosystem (“Lenovo Qira,” “we,” “us”). Lenovo Qira includes a set of intelligent, AI powered features and services available across supported Lenovo devices and applications, including personal computers, mobile phones, tablets, and certain connected devices.

    Lenovo Qira uses both on device and cloud-based AI models to provide the features you request. Some outputs are generated through automated processing that does not produce legal effects or similarly significant effects. You remain in control of whether to use AI powered features, and you may disable or avoid features that rely on cloud processing.

    This Notice applies to individual consumers who use Lenovo Qira. It does not apply to information we hold about companies or organizations. This Notice should be read together with Lenovo’s Privacy Statement.

    1A. What Is Lenovo Qira

    Lenovo Qira is Lenovo’s AI powered personal assistant and productivity ecosystem. It helps you interact with your device, organize information, create content, and complete tasks using natural language. Lenovo Qira combines on device intelligence with cloud-based AI models to provide features such as summarization, transcription, writing assistance, image generation, notification management, and connected service integrations.

    Lenovo Qira is a user-initiated system: it processes information only when you ask it to perform an action or when you enable a feature that requires ongoing access (such as notification summarization or cross device synchronization). Lenovo Qira does not monitor your device, applications, or environment unless you enable a feature that requires limited monitoring.

    Lenovo Qira includes:

    • Local (on device) features, such as file search, local indexing, and local storage of chat history
    • Cloud-assisted features, such as image generation, advanced reasoning, and cloud transcription
    • Connected service integrations, such as travel search, workspace access, and third-party tools you choose to link
    • Cross-device experiences, if you enable synchronization

    Lenovo Qira does not perform biometric identification, emotion inference, profiling, or surveillance . Lenovo does not use personal data to train its own foundation models. Third-party providers may process data per their policies.

    1B. Relationship to the Terms of Use

    This Privacy Notice explains how Lenovo collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data when you use the Lenovo Qira AI ecosystem. It does not govern your contractual relationship with Lenovo or the conditions under which you may use Lenovo Qira.     • Personal data processed by partners (e.g., Expedia, Notion, Perplexity) once you choose to invoke their services
    • Personal data collected by your operating system, device manufacturer, browser, or network provider outside Lenovo Qira’s functionality
    • Personal data you voluntarily share with others through outputs generated by Lenovo Qira

    Lenovo does not control how third parties independently process your data. Their processing is governed by their own privacy policies.

    4. Glossary

    AI Ecosystem - A set of interconnected AI powered features, models, services, and components that work together to provide functionality across devices and platforms. The Lenovo Qira AI ecosystem includes local processing, cloud-based models, connected services, and cross-device experiences.

    AI Generated Content - Text, images, summaries, transcripts, or other outputs produced by automated processing.

    AI Model - A computational system, often based on machine learning, that generates outputs such as text, images, summaries, or recommendations in response to your requests. Lenovo Qira uses both local (on device) models and cloud-based models provided by Lenovo and third-party providers.

    AI System - Software that uses machine learning or logic-based approaches to generate outputs such as predictions, recommendations, or content.

    BlobSync - Lenovo Qira’s cloud-based synchronization mechanism that syncs certain data across your devices when you enable sync.

    Cloud Processing / Cloud Model - Processing that occurs on remote servers operated by Lenovo or its service providers (such as Microsoft Azure). Cloud models support features that require more computational power, such as image generation, advanced reasoning, cloud transcription, or connected service integrations.

    Cloud Routing - Lenovo Qira’s orchestration layer that sends requests to cloud models or services when needed to fulfill your request.

    Cloud Storage - Storage that occurs on remote servers operated by Lenovo or its service providers when you enable cloud assisted features such as cross-device sync or connected services.

    Connected Device - A device linked to your Lenovo account or Lenovo Qira environment that may participate in multi device experiences, such as IoT devices, wearables, or additional Lenovo hardware.

    Connected Services - Third-party services you choose to link or invoke through Lenovo Qira (e.g., Expedia, Notion). These services process data under their own privacy policies once you choose to use them.

    Content Moderation / Safety Review - Automated or human-assisted evaluation of prompts, responses, or images to detect harmful, unsafe, or policy violating content before it is displayed or processed further.

    Conversational AI - AI systems designed to understand and respond to natural language input in a conversational manner, such as through chat, voice, or multimodal interactions.

    Data Minimization - A principle requiring Lenovo Qira to collect and process only the personal data necessary to provide the feature you request or to meet legal obligations.

    Derived Data - Information generated by Lenovo Qira based on your inputs, such as summaries, transcripts, embeddings, or other outputs created to fulfill your request.

    Device Authenticity Check - A security measure verifying that a request originates from a legitimate device associated with your Lenovo account.

    Embeddings - Numerical representations of text or other content used by AI models to understand meaning, context, or similarity. Embeddings are derived from your inputs and support features such as memory and document knowledge.

    General-Purpose AI System (GPAI) - An AI system capable of performing a wide range of tasks, including generating text, images, or other content.

    Generated Output - Content produced by Lenovo Qira, such as summaries, transcripts, translations, or images.

    Generative AI Chatbot - A conversational AI system that uses generative models to produce text, images, or other content in response to user prompts. Lenovo Qira includes generative AI capabilities for tasks such as summarization, writing assistance, and image generation.

    Human Oversight - AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete. We recommend that you review outputs and apply appropriate human judgment before relying on them. Lenovo implements safeguards designed to improve output quality, but results may vary depending on your inputs and use.

    Local Agent - On device components that index and search local files and perform certain processing locally.

    Local Processing / Local Model - Processing that occurs entirely on your device, without sending your content to Lenovo or external providers. Local models support features such as file search, local indexing, and local storage of chat history, transcripts, and summaries.

    Model Provider - A third party that supplies cloud-based AI models used by Lenovo Qira to generate text, images, summaries, or other outputs (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Perplexity).

    On Device Storage - Storage that occurs locally on your device, where data such as chat history, transcripts, summaries, and local indexes are kept in encrypted form.

    Personal Data - Information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.

    Prompt - Text, speech, or other input you provide to Lenovo Qira that instructs the system to perform an action, generate content, or respond to a question. Prompts may include context, instructions, or content for Lenovo Qira to process.

    Safety Checks - Automated assessments applied to uploaded or generated images to detect prohibited or unsafe content.

    Service Provider / Processor - A third party that processes personal data on Lenovo’s behalf and under Lenovo’s instructions (e.g., cloud hosting, content moderation, transcription).

    Session Context - Temporary information maintained to allow Lenovo Qira to understand and respond to your ongoing interactions.

    System Prompt - Instructions and rules that guide how Lenovo Qira responds to your requests. System prompts help ensure consistency, safety, and compliance across Lenovo Qira features.

    Third Party - Any entity other than you or Lenovo, including service providers, cloud model providers, connected service partners, and other companies that process personal data under contract with Lenovo or under their own privacy policies when you choose to use their services.

    Transient Processing - Processing where data is used briefly and deleted within seconds (e.g., screen capture for on screen help).

    User Request - A prompt, command, or action you initiate (typed, spoken, or through UI interaction) that triggers Lenovo Qira processing.

    5. Personal Data We Collect About You

    This section describes the categories of personal data Lenovo Qira collects or generates to provide the features you request. We explain what information is required for core functionality, what is optional, and how each category is used.

    6. Legal Basis for Processing

    Privacy laws require Lenovo to explain why Lenovo Qira is allowed to use your personal data. This section outlines the legal reasons (called “legal bases”) that apply when you use Lenovo Qira.

    Depending on where you live, different rules may apply. In general, Lenovo Qira processes your personal data based on one or more of the following:

    • Performance of a contract - We use your data when it is necessary to provide core Lenovo Qira functionality that you request or agree to use.
    • Consent - We rely on your permission for certain optional features.
    • Legitimate interests - We may use your data when it is reasonably necessary for our business operations, as long as your rights and interests are not overridden. This includes things like keeping Lenovo Qira secure, preventing fraud , and maintaining service integrity.

To complete these actions, Lenovo Qira processes your request and shares the necessary data (such as message content, recipient details, or search queries) with the relevant service provider or application. Depending on your device settings, you may be asked to confirm certain actions before they are completed.

    These actions occur only when you initiate or explicitly confirm them.

    8. Sharing Your Personal Data

    Lenovo Qira shares personal data only when necessary to provide the features you request, to maintain the security and integrity of the service, or when you choose to connect external tools or services.

    Lenovo works with a range of third-party service providers to support Lenovo Qira’s functionality. While this Notice describes the categories of recipients and purposes of sharing, an up-to-date list of specific providers is available here: Lenovo Qira Third Party Partners.

    8.1 User Initiated Sharing

    You may choose to share personal data when you:

    • Enable cross device synchronization
    • Connect third-party tools or services
    • Export or share outputs
    • Use partner integrations (e.g., Expedia, Notion, Perplexity)
    • Sending messages or initiating searches through third-party services (such as SMS, WhatsApp, or search providers), which may involve sharing your request content and necessary recipient or query information with those services to complete the action. These actions occur only when you initiate or confirm them.

    In these cases, Lenovo Qira shares only the data required to perform the action you requested.

    8.2 Sharing Required to Provide Features

    Lenovo Qira shares limited personal data with:

    • Cloud model providers
    • Transcription and translation providers
    • Safety/content screening services
    • Mapping/location formatting services
    • Cross device synchronization infrastructure

    These providers act under Lenovo’s instructions and process data only as needed to deliver the requested functionality. This includes actions such as sending messages or initiating searches through third-party services at your direction.

    These providers may receive limited telemetry data (such as feature usage, session interactions, and device-related information) to help Lenovo understand product performance, improve usability, and support troubleshooting.

    Lenovo contractually requires analytics providers to process personal data only on Lenovo’s behalf and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

    Lenovo Qira retains personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, or fulfill the purposes described in this Notice.

    9a. Where Your Data Is Stored

    Lenovo Qira stores personal data in a combination of local (on device) storage and cloud storage operated by Lenovo and its service providers.

      Chat history, transcripts, summaries, audio recordings, and local indexes are stored on your device in encrypted form.
    • Cloud storage (when features require it)
      If you enable cloud assisted features such as cross-device synchronization, connected services, or cloud based AI processing, certain data may be stored in cloud environments operated by Lenovo or its service providers. These environments and any corresponding data storage may be located in the United States, the European Union, or other countries where Lenovo or its providers maintain infrastructure.
    • Model providers
      Cloud model providers process data only as needed to fulfill your request. Where providers state that they do not retain user content, Lenovo Qira relies on those representations. Lenovo contractually requires providers to limit retention and process data only under instructions.

    Lenovo uses appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal data, including Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, and additional technical and organizational measures. See the “International Data Transfers” section for more information.

    10. International Data Transfers

    Lenovo Qira operates globally. Your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your home jurisdiction, including the United States, the European Union, and other regions where Lenovo or its service providers operate.

    Lenovo uses appropriate safeguards for international transfers, including:

    12. AI Models and Providers Used in Lenovo Qira

    Lenovo Qira uses a combination of local (on device) models and remote (cloud based) models to provide the features you request.

    12.1 Local (On Device) AI Models

    Local models run entirely on your device and do not send your content to Lenovo or external providers unless you enable cloud assisted features. Examples include:

    • Local file indexing and search
    • Certain summarization or classification tasks
    • Local storage and retrieval of chat history, transcripts, and summaries
    • Local audio recording and storage

    12.2 Remote (Cloud Based) AI Models

    Cloud models are used for:

    • Image generation and editing
    • Certain summarization, translation, or reasoning tasks
    • Cloud transcription
    • Partner powered search or retrieval

    Lenovo Qira sends only the data necessary to complete the request.

    Together, these privacy policies provide transparency into the data handling practices of the third-party providers that support Lenovo Qira’s cloud assisted features.

    Privacy laws give you certain rights over your personal data. This section explains those rights and how you can exercise them when using Lenovo Qira.

    Your privacy rights depend on where you live. Globally, you may have rights to:

    • Object to certain processing
    • Port your data to another service
    • Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent)

    14. Children

    Lenovo Qira is not intended for children under the age defined by local law. Lenovo does not knowingly collect or process personal data of children below applicable age thresholds.

    If Lenovo learns that it has collected personal data from a child without appropriate consent, it will delete that data.
