Bridging the Digital Divide
In collaboration with the Lenovo Foundation and Guangming Daily, Lenovo has unveiled a pioneering artificial intelligence-enhanced museum. Located within one of the country’s rural elementary schools, the sci-tech museum leverages cutting-edge technology to open opportunities for young minds. Featuring six immersive zones dedicated to diverse subjects like art, history, and sports, the initiative bridges textbook learning with infinite imagination. This underscores Lenovo’s ongoing commitment to ESG, closing the digital divide between urban and rural communities and accelerating rural transformation through Lenovo’s smarter technology.
Roots in the Community
In the heart of Xiushui County, Jiangxi Province in China, now stands an emblem of progress: an AI-powered museum. Just a few years ago, this area grappled with poverty. Shen Kuiyuan, a devoted educator in rural education, envisioned a world where local children embraced science beyond textbooks. With the local government’s backing, Shen’s dream took shape in the form of rudimentary science exhibits in a classroom. While these initial efforts faced limitations, they sowed the seeds for something monumental. Shen’s dream of integrating technologies like virtual reality (VR) and AI finally took form with Lenovo’s support, unveiled during National Science Week in September of 2023.
China's First Rural Sci-Tech Museum
Sprawling over 300 square meters, the museum consists of six cutting-edge, interactive zones, all conveying the ethos of futuristic education that’s supercharged by Lenovo technology:
- Futuristic Art Class – Voice-interactive AI empowers students as budding artists.
- Futuristic Science Class – Enables students to discover a world reshaped by computational power.
- Futuristic History Class – Augmented reality (AR) immersion takes students on virtual tours of Beijing’s historic landmarks.
- Futuristic P.E. Class – AI recognition allows students to digitally track their physical exercise.
- Futuristic Astronomy Class – Takes students on a celestial voyage with 3D stereoscopic visuals.
- Futuristic Classroom – Showcases a tech-infused learning environment that supports livestreaming, recording, and more.
Beyond the Walls
Free and open to all schools, the museum stands to directly benefit over 120,000 students. Collaborations with industry bodies, guest speakers, and Lenovo volunteers will usher in hybrid educational experiences. The project not only offers a primer in tech for remote students but also stands as Work For Humankind China’s enduring testament to technological potential, welcoming all to explore the future. Notably, the museum will feature tech advancements like AI PCs of the future. It will serve as a beacon of innovation and community where students, partners, customers, and the public can engage in immersive learning.
