What YouTube categories do you think are extremely difficult to break into if you're a new YouTuber?

I'll start: Travel vlogging feels like it's oversaturated. Tons of people already doing it and everyone has already visited and filmed popular cities like Paris. It's hard to stand out in this category unless you have a really affable and outgoing personality.

What categories do you feel like are oversaturated with creators already? Conversely, are there any niches you think will grow?

There's such an abundance of channels that it's probably more or less the same in every category. Entertainment might still be the easiest, because people are looking for distraction the most.

New “RFID confirmed pickup” for some shippers and in some markets

For those of you who have been shipping items recently,

what do you think of the new

RFID confirmed pickup “ that is now being activated at some shippers and in certain markets [eventually everywhere] …”?

ups or fedex app showed that, but its not going to help much until cities start prosecuting porch pirates.

This is a way to track people more and more of an invasion of privacy of course they're not going to sell it that way they're going to try to say it's something good and I just see it as a total invasion of privacy like flock cameras! Just think of it this way you have all these flock cameras right but they can tax you and send you a bill but yet they can't find all these missing children right? 🤔🤯😵‍💫😵🥴

SFF PC, Laptop with Docking Station or AIO

For many of us, having a compact setup is important, especially if we don't have a lot of space on our desks. Still, I'm sure we all have different preferences in terms of what to use, be it a laptop with a docking station or monitor with a built in hub, a Mini PC, or an AIO.

I've mostly used laptops since I can also take them around when I need it, but what about you? Do you prefer a mini PC or an AIO? Let me know which and why.

I'd love to have a SFF PC, though I still find laptop to be more convenient.

A mini PC would be a good option

GPU direction

We are in such a bad spot in the PC market that GPU value seems to be regressing. The 7900 GRE can outperform the 9070 XT and has 33% more VRAM and costed the same as the 9070 XT does now 2 years later. That doesn't even include the overclocking headroom you have on the 7900 GRE, that you don't have on the 9070 XT. You would figure that a new generation's rasterization and performance increases would at least offset the increases in some material costs, or that they would find ways to minimize nerfing GPUs for market purposes if these things were regressing in value and performance. We aren't even getting a GDDR7 on these new cards, so our bandwidth is still nerfed, not that these cards would necessarily scale with more bandwidth anyway. Dies are shrinking, bus width's are shrinking, TDPs are shrinking, and therefore cooling costs are shrinking. VRAM is just one small part of a GPU's cost. Adding 4GB of VRAM on the spot market, is under 50 dollars. And that's if we ignore the fact that they are not paying spot market pricing. Can anyone make a case for the 9070 XT that I am missing, or are we really just buying 2 year old hardware, but made worse? And does anyone think that a recession would bring about decreases in GPU costs because they are solely bought with disposable income, or do we think they will just decrease performance to cut costs and artificially cut supply and raise prices?

Chris

A recession would definitely lower the prices, because of the massiv capacities that were built up in recent years. They need to generate cashflow even if they lose money with their products. Basically exactly what happened around 2009.
Of course they would cut investments in R&D, too.

Injuries while creating.

I've just burnt my hand while using hot glue making my latest prop and have various cuts from work tools. Got me wondering , have any of you got injuries while creating?

I've definitely cut myself accidentally before when I was doing some carving, and I've had some minor injuries with hot glue. Also the occasional paper cut.

I try to first figure out what I will be using the computer for primarily, then determine the specifications that are most important to me. From there, I try to figure out what's the best bang for the buck and what I can live with now & upgrade later. For example, I think it's important to get a system with a high-end CPU and motherboard so it doesn't immediately become obsolete. I can live with a GPU that's a generation or 2 behind, and then upgrade it later when I have the funds. It's a process for me, but starting with the end in mind helps me to prioritize what to look for and where to spend my money. Hope this helps.

Pc or Console

Are you switching up on consoles when the stream deck releases? And do you think the machine will change the gaming industry for the good or bad?

I personally think it’ll be a let down kinda like the new gen consoles, all talk but not living up the hype and promises but I still might cope one without giving up my consoles idk

I prefer PCs because I can upgrade & customize it over time. I enjoy gaming on a console once in a while, but I still prefer mouse & keyboard.

Feena

I game on both but consoles will always be my favourite.

What Tweaks to Windows get you the best improvement in performance?

For me, minimizing the number of programs at start up is a good one. Also I use the 80-20 rule for Windows booting SSD. So always at least 20% empty, or it is time for a back up hard drive.

ローカルで LLM を動かすなら、64GB は必要なのでは?

When do you accept defeat on a goal/dream?

Let's say you have goals/dreams to be a content creator or an artist or whatever, but you're stuck and going nowhere, either audience-wise or financial-wise. You have been spending an incredible amount of time on your goals that it may have been eating away at something. That could be your real job, your social life, hobbies, or other potential goals.

With all that in mind, when do you quit? Would you even quit?

Apple's price increase

Does anyone think the RAM crisis is going to get worse by years end? I saw Apple finally increased their prices, but I'm wondering if they will be increased even more before the end of the year. Thoughts?

Software for Work on Linux - What would you say is essential?

As I'm relatively inexperienced with Linux, was wondering if anyone could give some tips on software tools / apps that would be useful for me to get (could be general tools or for creative work)?

Recently came across Sublime Text which is brilliant for coding (can get this on windows as well):

For those without AC, what do you do to work in this heat? The heat index here is over 100F. I see where the EU is suffering unusually hot temps too. How do you keep cool? How do you keep focus and accomplish things?

Salt, water and fresh air. I normally use himalayan sea salt and would love to try out baja gold, stay hydrated and get some fresh air both in your lungs, but into your apartment.

What are yall's plans for the fourth of july?

Will you go out to see fireworks, have a barbecue, just stay in avoiding the heat and curse your neighbors for using fireworks late into the night?

Go outside to take some fresh air. No job just staying chill with friends and family.

I don't have any fun things planned. I may be doing some cleaning around the house that day.

How long do you spend doing your creative hobbies in a week?

It really depends on the week!! I have weeks where I will focus and can work on hobbies 20+ hours on top of work, and then I have weeks where I barely do 1 hour!

Depends on my moods if i im in good mood then 10/12 hours a week haha

cooked phones not helping

I think it's a mix of students constantly looking at their phones now and teachers having an increasingly hard time at implementing any punishments that's causing this. I imagine covid didn't do a stellar job at helping students' attentions spans either if they just put their phone somewhere their laptop camera couldn't see, and that probably translates to worse behavior now, esp if you keep in mind that rules usually take time to implement.
