Product Diversity Office – innovating for accessibility
To create innovations that move society forward, we must design products that are accessible to people of different types of abilities. In 2019, Lenovo launched the Product Diversity Office (PDO) to ensure Diversity & Inclusion was embedded into product design and development processes.
By 2025, inclusive design experts will vet 75 percent of Lenovo’s products to ensure they work for everyone, regardless of their abilities or physical attributes. That’s what ‘Smarter Technology for All’ means at Lenovo.
Diversity & Inclusion
AI projects must work for all end-users and should test and monitor throughout the system’s lifecycle to minimize any potential biases.
Privacy & Security
Our inputs and outputs should always protect individual and group privacy and guard against cybersecurity threats.
Accountability & Reliability
We implement stress tests into our AI systems and have established a framework for responsibility in case of AI failure.
Explainability
The decision-making process of our AI systems is accessible to users so they can easily understand how decisions were made.
Transparency
We have measures that address the traceability of the AI system during its lifecycle and notify customers when they’re interacting with AI applications.
Environmental & Social Impact
We evaluate the environmental impact of the AI system’s development, deployment, and/or use, and mitigate the effects on society.
