They featured sturdy construction suitable for business travel, while also adding design flourishes for broader appeal. Though no longer available, their legacy lives on through the ThinkPad E Series, which offers slimmer profiles, sharper screens, and longer battery life without sacrificing the practical design roots of the Edge family.
The ThinkPad E Series is Lenovo’s successor to the Edge Series, designed for small businesses, startups, and professionals. It delivers dependable performance, a minimalist design, and essential business features at an affordable price point. With modern AMD or Intel processors, high-quality displays, and solid build quality, the E Series is ideal for those looking to replace their Edge laptop with a future-ready alternative.
ThinkPad E Series improves upon the Edge Series with faster processors, higher-resolution displays, longer battery life, and better connectivity. It retains the same price-accessible business focus but includes features like USB-C, NVMe SSDs, Wi-Fi 6, and improved thermal systems. For anyone upgrading from an Edge, the E Series offers a clear path forward with better performance and design.
Yes, the ThinkPad Edge Series was available in multiple screen sizes to suit various user needs, including 11.6", 13.3", 14", and 15.6". This flexibility allowed users to choose based on portability or screen real estate. Lenovo continues this approach with the ThinkPad E14 and E15 models, which provide larger and brighter full HD displays with narrow bezels and anti-glare coatings—enhancing comfort for both mobile work and desk use.
The Edge Series could handle multimedia tasks such as streaming video, basic photo editing, and video conferencing. Some models included Dolby® audio and HD displays for better sound and visuals. Modern ThinkPad E Series laptops are fully compatible with Windows 11 and select Linux® platforms, delivering better hardware optimisation, longer support lifecycles, and security updates.

Lenovo still provides basic support for Edge Series laptops, including driver downloads and product manuals, on its support portal. However, software and warranty support have largely ended.
