Changing young lives through education

Won Life expands its English literacy support program thanks to a generous donation of Lenovo Chromebooks from Data Sciences Corporation, its long-time technology partner.

Non-profit Won Life’s mission is to transform the lives of learners living in Fisantekraal, a township near Durbanville, South Africa. Its primary strategic focus is to improve the quality of basic education, as this is the tool that will empower members of the community to break the cycle of poverty.

Thanks to a donation of 35 Lenovo 100e Chromebooks from Data Sciences Corporation, Won Life recently expanded its Literacy Centre program.

This enables:

• 1) Won Life to expand its Literacy Centre programme for the first time to the newer Fisantekraal Primary School, welcoming all 430 of the Grade 3 – 4 learners to attend a weekly English literacy session. This allowed additional growth from the 690 learners being assisted at the Trevor Manuel Primary School.
• 2) Children to access an interactive online learn-to-read program.
• 3) Learners to gain a strong foundation in the English language.
