“Employees spend 12 hours a year watching old PCs start up.”, “Deep breaths, count to 12 … hours. That’s how long you’re spending each year waiting for your old PC to start up.” and “You don’t pay your staff to spend 12 hours a year watching old PCs start up. Except that’s exactly what you’re doing. “ are based on web-based survey from 3297 small business owners (in USA, Australia, India, China, Japan, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, UAE, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa), who participated in a 2018 study, commissioned by Intel and conducted by J.Gold Associates, LLC to assess the challenges and costs associated with deploying older PCs. The “12hrs” figure is based on the Global average statistics (of 11.88 hrs) for total hours per year of start up time for PCs that are more than 5 years old assuming one startup per day - the figure of 11.88hrs is then rounded up to 12hrs in the heading above. “PCs that are 5+ years old may make employees 29% less productive.” and “Old PCs may make employees 29% less productive.” are findings of a 2018 web-based survey, commissioned by Intel and conducted by J.Gold Associates, LLC., of 3297 small business owners (USA, Australia, India, China, Japan, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, UAE, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa)) to assess the challenges and costs associated with deploying older PCs. Global survey respondents estimated that using PCs more than 5 years old, additional workers necessary to compensate for loss productivity would be 29.45% (calculated based on average percentage less productive for PCs more than 5 years old of 43.7%, multiplied by the average percentage of time employees spend on the PC of 67.4%) - this figure of 29.45% is then rounded down to 29% in the heading above.
