Hey everyone! Been following the line for a while and wanted to share some thoughts on the latest gen and get a discussion going.
First off, the new Space Frame design is a genuinely exciting engineering step. The idea of placing components on both sides of the motherboard to improve cooling by up to 20% while keeping the weight under 2.2 lbs (1 kg) is impressive. On top of that, it makes the laptop more repairable — you can actually swap out the battery, keyboard, USB ports, and fans, which feels like a nod to longevity in an era where most ultrabooks are practically glued shut. The larger haptic touchpad is a nice bonus too.
Performance-wise, the jump to the Panther Lake Core Ultra X7 platform is a big deal after last gen’s Lunar Lake had some thermal limitations. It feels like Lenovo finally gave this machine the breathing room it deserved.
The Lenovo Aura Edition Smart Modes feature is interesting in theory — adapting system settings automatically for focus, protection, and productivity — though it’ll be worth seeing how well it works day-to-day in real-world use.
That said, a few things give me pause. The battery is barely updated from the previous gen, and it still sits below the 70Wh mark that many of us would love to see in a machine at this price point ($1,999 starting). For heavy travelers, that’s a real consideration. Also, with all these premium features packed in, it’ll be interesting to see how thermals hold up under sustained workloads — not just benchmarks.
Overall though, this feels like one of the more meaningful X1 Carbon refreshes in recent memory. The repairability angle alone sets it apart from most of the competition.
Would love to hear from anyone who’s already gotten their hands on one — especially curious about real-world battery life and how the new cooling performs under load. Drop your thoughts below!
