Lenovo sustainability highlights and milestones
Lenovo has been selected as a constituent stock of the 2013 of the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index (HSCSI). This is the fourth year of the index and the fourth in which Lenovo has been selected. Lenovo’s continued inclusion in this index is representative of Lenovo’s continuous efforts to be both sustainable and socially responsible. For the third consecutive year, Lenovo has earned a position on the RepuTex Hong Kong ESG Honour Board, which puts it among the top 5 of the 353 companies whose corporate sustainability performance was examined. In addition, Lenovo is the top rated company in the Information Technology sector and the only company in its sector among the Hong Kong top 20.
Lenovo is a signatory and member of the UN Global Compact and fully embraces its policies and principles. The UN Global Compact is a public-private strategic policy initiative for businesses committed to aligning operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principals in the area of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. Lenovo has been selected for inclusion in the first United Nations Global Compact 100 (GC 100) – a new global stock index that combines corporate sustainability and baseline financial performance. The GC 100 marries corporate performance on environmental and social issues with a requirement of basic profitability.
Lenovo’s responses to the CDP on climate change management strategy and greenhouse gas emissions inventory achieved a CDP 2013 Carbon Disclosure Score of 94 and placed Lenovo in the performance band A. The Disclosure Score is assessed based on the quality and comprehensiveness of Lenovo’s transparency and the CDP Performance Score is assessed based on Lenovo’s actions to combat climate change, such as climate change mitigation and adaptation. Lenovo was included in the leaders’ category for both disclosure as well as performance in the Asia ex-Japan region. Based on our results, Lenovo received an award as one of the “Best Overall Responding Companies.” Lenovo’s 2013 CDP disclosure report is publicly available at http://www.cdproject.net.
Lenovo participated in the China Greentech Initiative project to create a “Vision and Roadmap to Realize China’s Environmental Sustainability Goals.” As part of this project, Lenovo and partners from pwc, Bayer, AN, Coca-Cola China, and Saint-Gobain worked together to create corporate sustainability strategies to drive long-term business performance and China’s green growth. Lenovo is rated as “Prime” by oekom research AG, an independent research institute specializing in corporate responsibility assessments. The oekom Corporate Rating is based on a comprehensive set of criteria for ethical assessment of companies. This includes assessing companies' responsibility towards social sustainability and environmental sustainability. Lenovo's Prime rating means Lenovo is seen by oekom research AG as one of the world’s best of the 17 companies in oekom’s IT/Computers, Peripherals & Office Electronics industry group.

|Maintaining high ethical standards
Lenovo is committed to the highest standards of integrity and responsibility when working with all stakeholders. Lenovo provides guidance to its employees on a wide range of ethical issues, such as reporting unlawful or inappropriate conduct, respecting and protecting intellectual property, trading in securities and complying with governmental relations through its Employee Code of Conduct.
Employees are required to report any evidence of fraud, unethical business conduct, violation of laws, danger to health or safety or any other violation of corporate policies. Lenovo respects the intellectual property rights of other companies and individuals, having helped lead the way in fighting piracy in China. In mid-2005, the company began collaborating with Microsoft on an initiative to promote the use and benefits of validly licensed Microsoft® software products through new and innovative joint sales, marketing and training programs in China. Lenovo was the first PC supplier to take this important step, and this action compelled other market leaders in China to follow suit.
