IBM Global Technology Services to Deploy Lenovo Software on Non-Lenovo PCs

RALEIGH, N.C., June 28, 2006 — Lenovo's hallmark software tools soon will be deployed on a wide variety of PCs — not just those manufactured by Lenovo — as part of a deal signed today with IBM Global Technology Services (GTS). As part of the agreement, IBM GTS will expand its use of ThinkVantage Technologies to improve its management of customers' non-Lenovo PCs.

This marks the first time that ThinkVantage Technologies, software tools designed to help user PC productivity and reduce IT costs, will be widely available on systems other than ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops.

"Through this agreement, even more IBM customers will be able to take advantage of Lenovo's innovative ThinkVantage Technologies, designed to help enterprises reduce the total cost of PC ownership," said Steve Petracca, vice president and general manager of Lenovo's Services, Software and Peripherals business unit. "With unique technologies such as Rescue and Recovery, Lenovo and IBM are delivering enhanced solutions across multiple platforms, which is what our customers have asked for."

The deal grants IBM Global Technology Services a license to six Lenovo ThinkVantage client applications. IBM supports millions of PCs and end users with help desk and desktop services through its GTS Division. Lenovo's technology helps reduce dependency on IT staff and improve end user productivity by automating basic computing support tasks, including data and virus recovery, connectivity assistance, and PC deployment and disposal.

"ThinkVantage Technologies are a pillar in the IBM/Lenovo relationship as we work together to reduce costs and innovate in the PC services space. This agreement is another example of how IBM is leveraging proven technology to manage down its clients IT services costs," said Ralph Senst, vice president, Global Alliances, IBM Global Technology Services.

IBM will deploy and leverage the following ThinkVantage Technologies within their platform management and imaging services:
