DJ Shai spins his way to win the Live Mix Maestro Inter-tertiary DJ Competition
SINGAPORE – March 28, 2012: Keeping in time to the groovy beats, a new deejay (DJ) champion was crowned at the finals of the ‘Live Mix Maestro Inter-Tertiary DJ Competition’ on March 8, 2012. Organized by Lenovo and Republic Polytechnic’s School of Technology for the Arts (STA), this national youth competition sought to uncover the next DJ superstar from Singapore’s tertiary institutions.
Finalists were handpicked by industry veterans over the course of two elimination rounds and judges included well-known local deejays -- DJ Aldrin and D-Jan. In response to the popularity of the electronic music dance scene, more than 200 music supporters partied to the cool tunes of the finalists at Phuture, Zouk.
On his ThinkPad T-Series laptop, Mohammad Shai Fudin Suhaimi aka DJ Shai, mixed his way to the top, beating over 40 applications from local polytechnics and universities. He was also rewarded with Lenovo’s ThinkPad T420, which offers the best combination of mobility and performance to handle the live mixing of tunes for a DJ.
Lee Chown How, Country General Manager, Lenovo Singapore, said: “Today’s youth are unafraid to chase their dreams and follow unconventional paths. This is the spirit of ‘For Those Who Do’ theme that captures what Lenovo believes in. When armed with the right tools, such as Lenovo’s laptops, there is no limit to what these passionate young doers can accomplish in the pursuit of their aspirations.”
