Lenovo Launches IdeaPad and ThinkPad Tablets

   

Tablet family gives consumers and business customers a variety of choices; delivers thousands of apps and services

Announces 24-hour Code-a-thon in September

SINGAPORE – August 25, 2011: Lenovo today announced the first three devices in its tablet family – the sleek and stylish IdeaPad Tablet K1, WiFi and 3G versions, for consumers and the robust ThinkPad Tablet for business customers. The new Lenovo IdeaPad Tablet K1 and ThinkPad Tablet are the Company’s first mobile internet devices featuring the Android* 3.1 platform. The Android-powered Lenovo tablets also provide access to more than 250,000 apps in Android Market as well as apps tested for the Lenovo devices in the Lenovo App Shop.

Lenovo will be hosting its first Code-a-thon in Singapore on September 16 – 17, 2011, to challenge budding developers to build apps on the Android platform within 24 hours.

The ThinkPad Tablet combines the superior media and entertainment experience of the IdeaPad Tablet K1 with the security, reliability and manageability features ThinkPad is known for, to create the first true business-class tablet. When even more versatility is required, users can plug in the Keyboard Folio for fast, comfortable and accurate typing and mouse control.

Get better connected: With WiFi connectivity, 2GB of free cloud storage, a standard size USB port and SD Card Reader, and Lenovo’s unique file copy utility, sharing media files and documents with other people and electronic devices is easy. Lenovo Code-a-thon

On September 16 - 17, 2011, Lenovo will also be hosting its first 24-hour Code-a-thon in Singapore. In an effort to introduce more localized and relevant content in Singapore, Lenovo is bringing together a community of coders and students to build applications that can be added to the Android Market and the Lenovo App Store.

Competitors will be tasked to create applications in 24 hours on the Android platform for the IdeaPad Tablet K1 or the ThinkPad Tablet. Applications will be judged by a panel of experts on creativity and usability.

The Grand Prize will be a cash prize of SGD 3,000 in addition to two Lenovo Tablets, with an additional special category prize awarded to applications that are developed for Lenovo customers. Winners will also have an opportunity to work directly with MobiHand, leading distributor of software and content for mobile devices, to publish their application to the Lenovo App Store.

Pricing and Availability
The 32GB IdeaPad Tablet K1 WiFi version is currently available from select business partners and retail stores for SGD 699 and will be showcased at the Lenovo booth at COMEX from September 1-4, 2011.

The 32GB IdeaPad Tablet K1 3G version is priced at SGD 799 and will be available in end-September 2011.

The 32GB ThinkPad Tablet will become available in end-September 2011 and its pricing will be advised at a later date.

All Lenovo tablets come with a one-year warranty. Lenovo also offers warranty upgrade options that can extend the IdeaPad product warranty for one additional year, and the ThinkPad Tablet for two additional years.
