Lenovo Powers Up its Strongest, Coolest and Quietest Ever ThinkPad Lineup

Hong Kong, June 12, 2007 - Lenovo Hong Kong today announced five new ThinkPad notebooks: the first ThinkPad T61 14.1-inch widescreen notebook; the new ThinkPad R61 14.1-inch widescreen notebook, the new ThinkPad X61and X61s notebooks and ultraportable X61 Tablet PC.

These five new ThinkPad notebook PCs offer Lenovo's customers a cross-section of its technology innovations and industry technologies. Selected models include features such as Top Cover Roll Cage for excellent durability, improved cooling systems, enhanced wireless connectivity with Ultra Connect II and longer battery life through the Battery Stretch control option. All five feature the latest mobile technology Intel® Centrino® Pro or Intel® Centrino® Duo processors which means these notebooks comprise the strongest, coolest, quietest and best performing ThinkPad lineup yet. Lenovo also today introduced the Lenovo 3000 N200 14.1-inch widescreen and Lenovo 3000 V200 notebooks featuring the latest Santa Rosa platform.

According to Ken Wong, General Manager, Lenovo Hong Kong and Taiwan, the new notebooks offer a range of choices to support sophisticated daily business operations. "With advancements in wireless access, Hong Kong business people are increasingly relying on their notebooks for instant access to information, no matter where they are. Lenovo's new notebooks enable them to efficiently and effectively communicate with their clients or businesses at a speed that helps them outpace their competitors. Improvements in durability and reliability also mean their PC experiences will be more enjoyable and productive," said Mr. Wong.

The five new ThinkPad notebook PCs offer a range of features. Selected models include:

ThinkPad T61 and R61 have been engineered with a new Top Cover Roll Cage in addition to the original hard drive magnesium roll cage. The new honeycomb-designed roll cage cushions each notebook's LCD panel, reinforcing the screen and helping reduce stress on the display structure and antenna. Combined with features such as the airbag-like Active Protection System and a shock-mounted hard drive, these notebooks provide the highest level of Lenovo notebook reliability and durability.

Lenovo offers its best wireless performance with Ultra Connect II. This helps reduce the effect of conductive material and LCD noise, boosting WLAN performance and eliminating the need for external antennas. The notebooks offer several different connectivity options such as WLAN with 802.11n technology(1), GB Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth and modem. When used with Access Connections, Ultra Connect II considerably improves wireless management.

Owls are known for their silence during flight, and the unique shape of an owl's wing inspired the design behind Lenovo's improved cooling system design. The system reduces surface temperature by up to 10 percent and lowers the noise level by three decibels over previous ThinkPad notebooks, ensuring the T61 and R61 are Lenovo’s coolest and quietest notebooks yet.

Lenovo's Battery Stretch control option extends PC battery life by up to 15 percent(2). Battery Stretch allows users greater control, enabling them to select and manage features such as refresh rate and to temporarily disable radio and Bluetooth options in order to maximize battery life.

The new ThinkPad notebook PCs offer cutting-edge security with select models providing full disk encryption hard drives, an integrated biometric fingerprint reader and a smart card reader. They also feature the Client Security Solution, a unique hardware-software solution to manage passwords and encryption keys.

T61, X61, X61s and X61 Tablet users can also opt for Intel® Turbo Memory which improves general system performance up to 2 times faster by storing frequently accessed data in the flash memory, decreases Windows Vista boot time up to 20% and reduces the system power consumption, while ThinkPad T61 users can also enjoy new IT management capabilities with Intel® Active Management Technology. To enhance the multimedia experience, the notebooks offer choices of Intel integrated or NVIDIA discrete graphics and a four-in-one media card reader. An integrated camera is available for ThinkPad R61.

ThinkPad X61 Tablets also feature optional Lenovo innovations such as Active Rotate dynamic screen rotation and the combined MultiView display and MultiTouch making them Lenovo's highest performing Tablet PCs yet. With MultiView, users experience lower reflectivity than similar panel technologies for excellent readability outdoors, even in direct sunlight.

The Lenovo 3000 N200 14.1-inch widescreen notebook features leading technology in a thin and light form all at a good value. With today’s always-connected environment in mind, the notebook offers WLAN with 802.11n technology, 10/100 Ethernet and Bluetooth connectivity options. Integrated fingerprint readers help individuals manage their passwords and information. And to help lower the total cost of PC ownership, Lenovo Care Tools help manage IT tasks with automatic updates, one-button system recovery and simple network connectivity. Choices of integrated camera and microphone, a five-in-one multicard reader and Vibrant View display add up to an excellent multimedia experience.

The Lenovo 3000 V200 includes a 12.1-inch WXGA Vibrant View TFT with integrated camera, a built in DVDR-W drive and a unique "Instant On" button that lets users effortlessly switch between movies, TV, music and photo albums without booting Windows. It also weighs less than two kilograms, making it a very portable - yet powerful - notebook.
