TORONTO and RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – September 27, 2007 - Lenovo today unveiled InterAct ES for ThinkVantage Technologies, a new tool that delivers advanced PC performance reporting and analysis to IT managers for improved system management, end-user productivity and business efficiency. Lenovo also announced the Vista Readiness Analysis Service, which utilizes data collected from InterAct ES for ThinkVantage Technologies to minimize the challenges and complexity of transitioning PC fleets to Windows Vista Enterprise.
InterAct ES for ThinkVantage Technologies was developed in collaboration with Serden Technologies, the leading provider of End User Service Management solutions, to identify root PC performance issues, project how applications and PCs will perform under specific conditions, and provide insight on how to improve end-user computing satisfaction. The new solution complements Lenovo’s suite of ThinkVantage Technologies - software tools that are pre-loaded on every ThinkPad notebook and ThinkCentre desktop - to offer users and IT staff improved manageability and reliability.
“InterAct ES for ThinkVantage Technologies produces correlations between individual system operations and user productivity that would otherwise never be captured,” said Bob Galush, vice president, Software and Peripherals Marketing, Lenovo. “Armed with this new intelligence, the IT department can support more strategic operational decisions to ensure that every PC in the network is running at maximum efficiency and every employee has a system that meets their needs.”
More than PC Fleet Management When utilized with a desktop fleet management solution like LANDesk, a system administrator simply deploys a small InterAct ES passive agent on each client PC. The agent collects performance and usage information, including the programs and Web-based applications that are installed and accessed by the PC. This data is then sent automatically to a virtual knowledge warehouse which can be used to generate reports to support decisions ranging from business capacity to hardware and software procurement.
For example, a user experiences a slowdown in PC response time due to high levels of memory usage. InterAct ES for ThinkVantage Technologies will alert the IT manager to install more memory to speed PC performance and by extension, improve user productivity. Likewise, IT can pre-set parameters on individual systems or across the network to track variables such as PC response times.
System Migration Made Easy InterAct ES for ThinkVantage Technologies also minimizes the challenges and complexity associated with major system upgrades and migrations. When coupled with Lenovo’s Vista Readiness Analysis Service, delivered with Serden, the solutions work together to collect and examine critical PC fleet data including the Windows client end-user environment. This presents IT managers with important system information that will minimize the risk of downtime or failure during the migration, as well as reduce unnecessary support costs.
Lenovo InterAct ES for ThinkVantage Technologies is available for purchase beginning in September 2007. Lenovo customers and prospects can also obtain the Vista Readiness Analysis Service at no-cost through a special promotion beginning in September through December 2007. This promotion is available in the United States and Canada only.
