Lenovo Thinks Easy with New Desktop Line for Small Business

MARKHAM, ON, October 18, 2005 – Lenovo today announced the new ThinkCentre E Series line of desktop PCs designed specifically to meet the technology needs of small businesses - ease, affordability and reliability. For the first time, ThinkCentre E50 desktops from Lenovo will offer small business users a simple combination of proven core technologies in a new silver-accented design, with prices starting at $499 Cdn.

According to IDC research, small companies (defined as one to 99 employees) are primarily focused on business growth (1). Using standard technologies as building blocks for success, Lenovo E Series desktops can help small companies focus on growth by helping eliminate the hassle of complex configurations or cumbersome technology solutions that often require the support of an in-house or phone-supported IT staff.

"It's important for small businesses to focus on company growth in order to succeed. Using complex information technology solutions should not be an impediment," said Peter Sturm, ThinkCentre National Sales, Lenovo (Canada) Inc. "Lenovo has developed the ThinkCentre E Series line of desktops to offer small business professionals technology peace of mind. We want to reduce the IT hassles small businesses face by providing basic PC functionality for the ultimate ease-of-use experience."

The new ThinkCentre E50 tower and small desktop PCs come equipped with the Intel® 915GV Chipset with GMA 900 graphics and the SIS® 661FX Chipset, respectively. Both tower and small desktop PCs are available with Pentium® 4 and Celeron D® processors and six USB 2.0 ports, including two located on the front of the PC for convenient access. Toolless-entry covers further enhance the simplicity of the ThinkCentre E50 desktops by allowing users to easily access select components for quick repairs or upgrades, without the need for external service or support.

Think Easy, Think Express As part of the Think Express program, ThinkCentre E50 tower and small desktop PCs are available through Lenovo business partners and directly through www.lenovo.com/ca to make decisions and ordering easy for small business customers. The Think Express program provides a selection of PCs from entry level to performance models based on input from small- and mid-sized customers and Lenovo business partners. Models in the Think Express Program also include select ThinkVantage Technologies, such as Rescue and Recovery, to help improve business productivity throughout the ownership experience

Automatic Crash Recovery For small businesses, system crashes and viruses can result in loss of productivity, critical data and money, and can require significant time to recover. Using Rescue and Recovery preloaded on ThinkCentre E50 desktops, users can diagnose, get help, and recover from a crash without the need of an IT staff, even if the operating system will not boot. In addition, users can employ an extra layer of support using Rescue and Recovery by pre-configuring automatic external backups to a server or external storage.

In the event users need additional help, award-winning PC service and support is available on the Internet at www.lenovo.com/pc/support with innovative web-based diagnostic and self-help tools. In addition, users can contact experienced technicians for assistance by phone through Lenovo's consolidated SupportCenter located in Atlanta, Georgia.
