Sydney, Australia – October 21, 2010: Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) today announced its newest desktops in the ThinkCentre M Series, the ThinkCentre M75e and M80. Designed for large businesses, the new desktops give customers advanced productivity technologies, such as Intel iCore or AMD Phenom II processors and support for multiple displays along with Lenovo extras, like super fast boot up and advanced web conferencing.
“We’ve tailored our ThinkCentre M Series desktops to the needs of large businesses, paying special attention to the features they care most about, including performance, security, manageability and energy efficiency,” said Chris Kelly, Director, SMB and Consumer, Lenovo Australia and New Zealand. “By adding the M75e and M80 to the line, customers can now get all of the great features of our M Series enterprise desktops in an elegant and affordable one-piece design”.
Desktop Options Focus on Performance
The new desktops deliver powerful performance, maximum productivity and are designed to scale to a customer’s growing business computing needs. The new desktops can support up to a 500GB hard disk drive, up to 1333 MHz DDR3 memory, and feature tools such as Direct X10 integrated graphics support.
The ThinkCentre M75e and M80 tower and small form factor desktop give customers who are looking for powerful performance at entry to mainstream pricing several options. As the first M Series with AMD processors2, the M75e offers the choice of AMD Athlon II or Phenom II processors, which helps to fast boot in about 30 seconds. The M75e can drive two or four displays for users who need multiple monitors and features four memory slots for upgradeability, DASH management functionality and USB enablement/disablement for security.
The M80 features choices of the latest Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, Gigabit Ethernet, a DVD player or burner and multiple USB ports for connecting to peripherals. The ThinkCentre M80 is built on the latest Intel® 45nm Nehalem technology, using processors up to Intel® Core™ i7-870 and delivering 81% superior performance compared to older PC fleets. Both desktops offer Energy Star 5.0 models.
Additional features of the ThinkCentre M75e and M80 include:
Enhanced Security Tools – Using the Lenovo Hard Disk Drive Retention tool as part of Lenovo warranty services, users can now keep their hard drives after retiring their PCs to ensure sensitive business data remains with them. Hardware Password Manager, a ThinkVantage Technology, provides IT managers oversight of user, supervisory, BIOS and HDD passwords to help companies increase their overall level of data security while reducing the time and expense associated with resetting employee passwords. Combined with the Intel® Trusted Platform Module, this solution provides rock-solid, layered hardware and software security for added data protection.
Remote Power Management – Power Manager, a Lenovo ThinkVantage Technology, together with the Energy Star® compliant Power Supply Unit on the desktops, enables IT managers to remotely monitor energy consumption of PCs in specific departments or locations, as well as across the entire fleet.
Lenovo Enhanced Experience for Windows 7 – The ThinkCentre desktops are optimised under Lenovo’s Enhanced Experience for Windows 7. Among the key benefits of the Lenovo Enhanced Experience certification is advanced performance tuning, which enables the ThinkCentre desktops to start-up significantly faster than identical configuration, non-optimised PCs.
360 Degree Customer Support - Lenovo offers a variety of flexible warranty options for the desktops as well as a ThinkPlus Priority Support enhanced service plan. Priority Support features 24/7 priority call routing to advanced technical support for issues with Lenovo hardware and preloaded software applications. ThinkPlus Priority Support helps reduce the amount of time IT staff spend troubleshooting PC problems because they get instant access to the right level of support on the first call, which can translate into increased PC uptime, greater end user satisfaction and significant support time and cost savings for businesses.
Lenovo has engineered a unique ThinkVantage Toolbox for ThinkCentre PCs running Windows 7, which is included in the cost of the PC. This recently introduced combination of PC health, security and support tools helps customers avoid IT costs and lost productivity associated with individual PC usage.
The desktops also include a variety of ThinkVantage Technologies, such as Rescue and Recovery to help recover and restore files.
