Directions: From NC -147 S travel toward Airport/Raleigh for approximately 7 miles. Merge left on to I-40 E (Exit 5A) toward RDU/Raleigh. Stay on I-40 for approximately 6 miles, exiting on Exit 289 (Raleigh North/Raleigh East). Travel along this road to I-440/US 1 N toward Wake Forest/Rockey Mount/Wilson. At the Six Forks Road/North Hills exit (Exit 8B), merge onto Six Forks Road and North Hills will be on your left.

Chapel Hill - Morehead Planetarium
The Morehead Planetarium is one of only a few planetariums in the country with a Zeiss Model VI projector that can show approximately 8,900 stars. The first planetarium owned by a university, it was once used as a NASA training center for astronauts. In addition to the 330-seat theatre with a 68-foot dome, there are exhibits, art galleries, rose gardens, a massive sundial, and a science shop. Shows each evening, matinees on weekends.
Hours: Public planetarium shows Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 and 8:30; live sky shows narrated by planetarium staff members on Fridays at 3:30 and 7:30. Weekend matinees. Please call for specific programs.

Directions: Take I-40 West to Exit 270 (15-501). Turn left towards Chapel Hill. Go 1.6 miles to Franklin Street exit to the right. Proceed on Franklin Street for 2.6 miles. Morehead Planetarium is located on the Left.

Raleigh - Exploris
The world's first global experience center opened its doors in October 1999. Features interactive exhibits and programs for all ages focusing on global trade, telecommunications, changing cultures and the global environment. Gift shop and daily performances.
Hours: Tues-Sat: 9am-5pm; Sun: Noon-5pm; Open Monday during the summer months.

Continue North on Person Street for approximately 2 miles. Turn left onto Hargett Street. Exploris is on the right at the corner of Hargett and Blount Streets. Visitor parking for Exploris is located next to the City Market on Martin Street, just across from Moore Square.

North Carolina Museum of Art
Paintings and sculpture representing more than 5,000 years of artistic heritage from ancient Egypt to the present. Several changing exhibitions each year. Lectures, workshops, films, family festivals and performing arts events offered in landmark Museum Park. Gift shop and cafe.
Hours: Tues-Sat: 9am-5pm; Fri: 9am-9pm; Sun: 11am-6pm. Closed Mondays. Daily guided tours at 1:30pm

Directions: From I-40 East, take Wade Avenue exit to Blue Ridge Road exit. Follow west for a half mile. Museum will be on right. Parking is to the left of the circular driveway.

North Carolina Museum of Natural History
The museum houses both long-term and changing exhibits that describe how North Carolinians have lived from the state's early beginnings to present day. Long-term exhibits focus on the state's chronological history, folklife, healing systems and North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. Gift Shop.
Hours: Tues-Sat: 9am-5pm; Sun: noon-5pm; Closed Mondays.

Directions: From I-40 East, take Exit 299 - Person Street. Proceed North for two miles. Turn left onto Edenton Street. Go three blocks. The museum is located on the right. It is located in Downtown Raleigh between the Capitol and the Legislative Building. The main entrance faces Bicentennial Plaza and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences
The museum opened its new building in April, 2000, with four floors of exhibits, live animals and hands-on programs. Highlights include a two-story waterfall, the world's only Acrocanthosaurus dinosaur and an Arthropod Zoo crawling with critters from butterflies to tarantulas.
Hours: Mon-Sat: 9am-5pm; Sun: noon-5pm. Closed Mondays.

Directions: Take I-40 East towards Raleigh. Follow signs for Wade Avenue. Take Wade Avenue to Capital Boulevard South (toward downtown Raleigh). Capital Boulevard South becomes Dawson Street. Turn LEFT onto Jones Street. Go three blocks East. The museum will be on the Right. Parking is available along Jones Street, in the parking deck under the Museum of History, or in several nearby lots.
