Chapel Hill - Morehead Planetarium
The Morehead Planetarium is one of only a few planetariums in the country with a Zeiss Model VI projector that can show approximately 8,900 stars. The first planetarium owned by a university, it was once used as a NASA training center for astronauts. In addition to the 330-seat theatre with a 68-foot dome, there are exhibits, art galleries, rose gardens, a massive sundial, and a science shop. Shows each evening, matinees on weekends.
Hours: Public planetarium shows Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 and 8:30; live sky shows narrated by planetarium staff members on Fridays at 3:30 and 7:30. Weekend matinees. Please call for specific programs.

North Carolina Museum of Art

North Carolina Museum of Natural History
The museum houses both long-term and changing exhibits that describe how North Carolinians have lived from the state's early beginnings to present day. Long-term exhibits focus on the state's chronological history, folklife, healing systems and North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. Gift Shop.

Directions: From I-40 East, take Exit 299 - Person Street. Proceed North for two miles. Turn left onto Edenton Street. Go three blocks. The museum is located on the right. It is located in Downtown Raleigh between the Capitol and the Legislative Building. The main entrance faces Bicentennial Plaza and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.
North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences
The museum opened its new building in April, 2000, with four floors of exhibits, live animals and hands-on programs. Highlights include a two-story waterfall, the world's only Acrocanthosaurus dinosaur and an Arthropod Zoo crawling with critters from butterflies to tarantulas.

Parking is available along Jones Street, in the parking deck under the Museum of History, or in several nearby lots.
