11-23-2011Tips for buying a tabletMost industry analysts and consumers would agree that there is no hotter technology at the moment than tablet computers. Especially as the holidays approach, tablets are currently high on a lot of people's shopping lists and will likely stay there for some time. But when purchasing a tablet -- whether for oneself or for a loved one -- there are a number of factors to consider to ensure one doesn't walk away disappointed. Functionality should be the primary consideration for any tablet buyer. If the owner plans to use the device primarily for games or watching movies, a tablet that is geared toward consumer functions is probably best. However, if the user needs the tablet for work, it may be beneficial to choose a device that is more business-oriented. Size is another major factor. Larger tablets are ideal for watching video or browsing the web. If the user needs something more portable, the shopper may opt for a 7- or 5-inch tablet, which can fit comfortably in a purse, briefcase or pocket. The key to buying a tablet is trying it out before making a purchase. Giving the device a test run in the store will let the shopper know whether he or she is buying a quality tablet. Also, knowing the return policy is crucial, should a shopper end up buying a lemon. |
