Tablets for children

Perhaps more so than their parents, children generally show an interest in the latest technologies. The tablet computer is evidently no different, with many children hoping to find one with a nice, big bow on it this holiday season.

A study from market intelligence firm Nielsen shows the tablet computer is the No. 1 most-wanted gift this holiday season for children between the ages of 6 and 12.

However, there are several considerations when buying tablets for children. For example, price can be a heavy burden for parents, especially those with multiple children. Data consumption, too, can be problematic, as too much tablet usage may cause a family to go over its data plan and thus spend extra.

Tablet computers feature a range of educational and entertainment applications for children. To take advantage of the potential learning experience without exceeding data usage within a plan, a family may consider purchasing just one tablet to share.
