Tablet users gravitate toward videos

Online shopping has become one of the most common uses for tablet computers. When looking to make a purchase online, however, many tablet users are more apt to view product videos on their devices beforehand, a study from Invodo reveals.

According to the company, which provides enterprise video solutions, 35 percent of those polled say they own a tablet computer. Among those respondents, 61 percent acknowledge having watched at least one product video during the past three months. Eight percent said they have watched 10 or more of these videos on their tablets.

"An understanding of where and how consumers gravitate to video sets the tone for merchants to explore its potential role for their businesses," the report states.

Online retailers would be wise to leverage consumers' enthusiasm for mobile videos, as the Invodo report also predicts tablet ownership to increase 40 percent during the coming years.

Tablet users' mobile shopping habits are well documented. A March 2012 survey of 402 tablet owners by online retailer PriceGrabber finds that 77 percent of respondents say they shop through their devices.
