Smaller businesses can benefit from tablets

Smaller businesses are often seen as at a disadvantage against large corporations. Looking for any way to improve employee productivity, small companies may want to consider tablet computers for greater efficiency.

The devices offer an array of advantages over their PC counterparts, including their size. Desktop computers certainly offer greater power and storage, but laptops, although small and light, simply don't have the same pick-up-and-go appeal. Tablets can fit anywhere and, with the advent of cloud computing, storage is not as vital as it once was.

The transition to tablets in the workplace has already begun. According to Techaisle, small businesses are using nearly 9 million tablets, with 48 percent of survey respondents revealing they have policies in place for the devices.

The fate of greater adoption lies with the applications. According to the study, more businesses will deploy tablets if applications meet their needs for productivity.
