The survey of more than 1,000 respondents ranging from 18 to more than 55 years old finds that 66 percent of smartphone users between the ages of 18 and 24 are interested in other mobile devices, such as tablet computers. Nearly 70 percent of those in this age group also regularly check their social networks through mobile devices. Many of these same users are looking into cloud computing and how it pertains to telephony. According to the study, millennials are more likely than any other age group to adopt cloud-based telephony models for texting and voice capabilities. The fact that younger generations are interested in new technology is not likely to come as a surprise to many. But the way these trends affect the technology landscape will be a development worth watching. As more millennials adopt devices like tablet computers and smartphones, it is likely to affect other areas, including the ways people watch TV, play video games and interact with one another, among others. |
