Company mobility strategies must account for tablets

As more businesses incorporate tablet computers into their operations, it is becoming apparent that corporate mobility strategies need to be adjusted to avoid some of the challenges of adopting a new technology in the workplace.

One of the major concerns IT departments must address is overspending. Most companies do not have the budget to give every employee a tablet. What's more, those that do provide tablets must ensure their employees' activities are not too costly for the company.

Limiting an employee's data usage can be an effective way of avoiding extra carrier charges. Companies can also stress the importance of connecting tablets to WiFi networks whenever possible, as this doesn't affect a data plan.

Protection is another important element of mobility strategies. Employees on the go need to protect their tablets from damage, which can be accomplished by investing in a carrying case or a tablet with a crack-resistant screen. Additionally, protecting the information on a machine with antivirus software and data encryption is crucial for tablet owners.

Each company's mobility strategy will be unique. All businesses are different, as are their technological needs. As companies make the leap to tablet technology, they must determine what strategies suit them best.
