Cloud-based management could solve BYOD issue, expert says

With employees demanding support for personally owned mobile devices, including tablet computers and smartphones, many organizations are currently grappling with how to manage the challenges of a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environment. In a recent Forbes report, expert Maribel Lopez says the cloud may be the answer.

"In essence, cloud mobility management could make IT's life easier and could help make BYOD beyond email a reality," Lopez notes.

In her report, Lopez highlights several benefits that organizations can expect to gain from focusing on cloud-based mobility management. Among them are the ability to quickly deploy mobile technology, support for multiple platforms and flexibility in managing the expenses associated with mobility.

Both the cloud and mobility have grown in importance within the enterprise sector during the past several years, Lopez points out, so it only makes sense to combine their benefits.

In a December 2011 report, Visiongain predicts that the mobile cloud computing market will generate $45 billion in revenue by 2016. By that time, researchers say, the total cloud market will top $240 billion, which is more than three times the $77 billion it reached in 2011.
