Can schools afford to wait for classroom technology?

Technology has become a staple of the modern classroom. Between PCs, television, the internet and more, students today have access to a wider array of resources than ever.

However, the evolving nature of technology makes it difficult for schools to stay on top of the latest trends. Budget cuts are a fairly common threat in today's economy, and technological upgrades are often among the first to go.

But technology has become a major part of the lives of many children, who have grown up using cell phones and surfing the web. According to the US Department of Education, students who use technology, such as laptop or tablet computers, tend to be active in their studies, and they are generally more engaged than other students. As comfortable as students are using technology at home, it is evident that most would prefer to use it in the classroom as well.

Finding funding for technology can be difficult. Additionally, adjusting budgets to focus on technology can be beneficial for many schools. However a school finds the funds to pay for it, technology may eventually pay off in the student's future.
