Best Windows 8 features for enterprises

Microsoft® has created a lot of buzz recently with the impending release of Windows® 8, the latest version of the operating system that has allowed the company to dominate the software market for more than 25 years. Perhaps nowhere is it more talked about than within the enterprise sector, which has long been a close partner of Microsoft.

InformationWeek notes the key features of Windows 8 that should please all IT professionals and prompt them to install the platform on employees' notebook and desktop computers.

The first is Windows To Go, which gives companies the ability to grant partial access to desktop images and applications to contractors and consultants. The feature allows for these partnerships to run smoothly, without overstepping any security bounds, the report says.

Another key feature for security is AppLocker®. A holdover from Windows 7, AppLocker allows a company to decide which applications and software can run on enterprise devices.

News about Windows 8's release continues to trickle out. In mid-April 2012, the company revealed on its blog that three versions will be released -- Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro and Windows RT, which will run on devices equipped with ARM chips.
